John N. Schwartzberg

President and
Senior Engineer


John N. Schwartzberg, Rocky Mountain EMTEC, Inc. Principal and Metallurgical Engineer, holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines, Golden, Colorado.  He has completed graduate coursework in Metallurgical Engineering at CSM.  His areas of emphasis are in physical metallurgy, mechanics of materials, welding and joining, and forensic engineering.  Mr. Schwartzberg also holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder and is a registered professional engineer.

Mr. Schwartzberg has developed specific expertise in forensic engineering through the application of principles of safety management and engineering to the investigations of product failures and accidents.  In the process of assisting industrial and manufacturing clients, Mr. Schwartzberg has offered consultation regarding safety analysis of products.  Mr. Schwartzberg also has extensive experience evaluating the safety of products and places through failure analysis and accident investigations for forensic and non-forensic clients.

His engineering expertise was developed through his prior employment as materials Research Engineer with Martin Marietta Astronautics Group, as Metallurgical Engineer with OEA, Inc., and previously as Laboratory Manager for Rocky Mountain EMTEC, Inc.  He has gained further expertise in corrosion, materials selection and testing, and in non-destructive inspection.  His engineering background is augmented by his background in electronics and journalism, and through his experience teaching in the Engineering Technology program at Metropolitan State College of Denver.

Mr. Schwartzberg has received awards for original inventions, including a process for determining weld wire quality in a production line operation, a coating technique for beryllium solar reflectors, and performance improvements for ceramic shielding.  His publications deal with welding processes and inspection, acoustic emission techniques, wear testing, and corrosion.

Memberships include ASM International, the American Welding Society, the National Association of Corrosion Engineers, the National Society of Professional Engineers, the National Academy of Forensic Engineers, the American Society of Safety Engineers, the National Safety Council, the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, and the American Society for Testing and Materials.
